Biographical Information:
John Hogan, a shareholder, first joined Wilentz, Goldman & Spitzer P.A. in 1999. He concentrates his practice in the areas of criminal defense, appellate matters, administrative law, and civil rights litigation. Mr. Hogan was recognized by the Woodbridge Metro Chamber of Commerce in 2008 as “Citizen of the Year.” In 2009, he was selected for inclusion as one of NJBiz’s “Forty Under 40” for his community leadership and professional achievements. In addition, Mr. Hogan has been honored by the Middlesex County Bar Association as its Young Lawyer of the Year for 2010. He has been selected for inclusion by New Jersey Super Lawyers®-Rising Stars Edition each year since 2006. Mr. Hogan is a past member of the State Board of Trustees of the American Conference on Diversity and past chair of its Central Jersey chapter and remains an active supporter of the organization and its mission. He is a Trustee of the Trial Attorneys of New Jersey and co-chair of the Middlesex County Bar Association’s Municipal Court Practice Committee. Mr. Hogan is a member of the Board of Directors of the Woodbridge Metro Chamber of Commerce and is a support of the Raritan Bay Healthcare Foundation. Mr. Hogan has published articles entitled “The Feasibility of Internet Gambling Regulation” (1998); “How The Patriot Act Affects Noncitizens” (2002); “How To Prevent Losing Your Business To Retail Larceny” (2003); and “Domestic Violence and the Unfortunate Byproduct of Police Conducted Pretextual Searches for Contraband” (2007). Mr. Hogan has served as a periodic guest lecturer on Federal Civil Procedure at St. John’s University.
Mr. Hogan is a member of the Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys of New Jersey, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Middlesex County Bar Association, the Monmouth County Bar Association, the New Jersey Association for Justice, and the New Jersey State Bar Association. He is a graduate of the Haydn Proctor Inn of Court. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Hogan completed a clerkship in the Criminal Part of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Law Division, with the Honorable Michael D. Farren, P.J.Cr., and the Honorable Vincent E. Hull, Jr., J.S.C.
